Name: ____________________Worked example
- The goal: write the same amount in another unit, for example 2 m = 200 cm.
- Learn the steps: 1 m = 100 cm, 1 km = 1,000 m, 1 kg = 1,000 g, 1 l = 10 dl.
- To a smaller unit: multiply. 2.5 m = 2.5 × 100 = 250 cm.
- To a larger unit: divide. 350 cm = 350 ÷ 100 = 3.5 m.
- Check: read the question again. Does your answer give what was asked, with the right unit? Work backwards to see that it fits. ✓

About this generator
Converting units builds on place value: moving between mm, cm, m and km or g and kg means multiplying or dividing by 10, 100 or 1000. The easier level uses neighbouring units and whole numbers. Harder levels skip units and include decimals. Word problems use recipes, running tracks and parcels. The answer key is calculated by the website, so it always matches the tasks. No sign-up is needed and no personal data is collected.
